Why We Support Small businesses
At 4 Kids Toys it was our dream to bring beautiful, wooden toys and resources to the UAE that were not always easy to find or get hold of. Inspired by our homeschool journey and the small businesses we encountered when looking for educational resources for ourselves, We decided to create an offering that was clearly in demand. This is why we like to support small businesses;
- Good for the environment. Small businesses and workshops tend to be in smaller work spaces, use smaller and less machinery and source raw materials locally, which means products are not travelling hundreds of miles, which lessens the carbon footprint on the planet.
- Originality. Each of our wooden toys is cut from a different piece of wood, so the wood grain, texture and look of the product will be unique in every item. All our toys are hand painted and stained, again adding to the unique quirkiness of each product. No one else in the world will have a piece exactly like yours.

It’s good for local economy. Instead of buying from a large international company where the craftsman get a fraction of the money we buy directly from the craftman and artisan’s who make the products. But it isn’t just about money. Buying from a small workshop or business shows that person that you value their work and what they have created. It gives them the opportunity to practice and hone their skills and keep traditions and craft skills alive.
- Heirloom toys. The benefit of buying handcrafted wooden toys is that they are made from materials which stand the test of time. Made to last using good quality, durable natural materials. Wooden toys, if properly cared for can last a lifetime and become heirloom toys that you can pass on down through your children and to the next generation.
