About Us

Meaningful toys for every childhood.

Four Kids Toys began with a mum, three little children, a fourth baby on the way, and a growing feeling that the toys and resources we were looking for simply weren’t easy to find.

Today, Four Kids Toys is still very much shaped by that same instinct.

I’m Victoria — mum, home educator, toy obsessive, and the person behind Four Kids Toys.

I believe children deserve better than toys that all look and feel the same.

They deserve things that invite them to imagine, create, discover and learn. Things that reflect the world around them — and, just as importantly, their own little corner of it.

Their family. Their culture. Their language. Their traditions. Their faith. Their stories.

And that is where Four Kids Toys is heading next.

It started at our kitchen table

When I started Four Kids Toys in 2020, I was home educating my three young children in Dubai and pregnant with our fourth.

As I explored different approaches to education and began gathering resources for our own home, I discovered a world of beautiful educational materials, open-ended toys, wooden resources and carefully considered playthings.

But finding them locally was another story.

There was a real lack of the kind of toys I wanted for my own children — beautiful, well-made, educational and designed to be used in lots of different ways. Wooden toys were particularly difficult to find, and many families were importing them from Europe or bringing them back in their luggage.

So I started looking.

And then I started buying.

And then, quite naturally, other parents started asking where I had found the things in our home.

What began with handmade novelty crayons and a few carefully chosen wooden toys slowly became something much bigger.

I began building relationships with small makers and independent businesses whose products I genuinely loved. Stacking toys, tracing boards, loose parts, peg dolls, art materials and open-ended resources gradually joined the collection.

And because the UAE is a relatively small and connected community, word spread.

Before long, Four Kids Toys had grown beyond a little home-based idea. Nurseries and schools began ordering from us, many becoming loyal customers who returned again and again.

That meant so much to me.

Because I wasn't simply selling toys. I was discovering that other parents and educators were looking for the same things I was.

Four Kids Toys was always a family affair

Even the name came from our family.

One evening, over dinner, we were talking about the business and trying to come up with a name. The boys got involved in the brainstorming, and eventually we landed on 4 Kids Toys.

It was simple. It was ours. And it reflected exactly where the business had come from — four children at the heart of it.

They have always been part of the story.

The business has grown alongside our family, fitted around home education, family life, school runs, packing orders and all the ordinary chaos that comes with raising children.

Even now, Four Kids Toys is a small, independent business. There isn't a big team behind the scenes. It's me, wearing rather a lot of hats.

And I like it that way.

It means every product I choose still has to pass the same test it did at the beginning:

Would I want this in my own children's hands?

From Dubai, back home to the UK

In 2023, our family moved back to the UK, and Four Kids Toys came with us.

In many ways, it felt like starting all over again.

A new country. A new customer base. New relationships to build. And the challenge of communicating the same values in a completely different market.

But it also gave me the opportunity to stop and think about where Four Kids Toys was going.

The business had always been about quality, thoughtful play and beautiful educational resources.

But I began to realise it could be about something more.

Because childhood isn't universal in the way the toy industry sometimes makes it seem.

Children grow up speaking different languages. They celebrate different festivals. They pray in different ways, or not at all. They wear different clothes, eat different foods, listen to different stories and grow up surrounded by different traditions.

And yet so many children's toys still present one very narrow version of childhood.

I want Four Kids Toys to be part of changing that.

Toys that tell a story

I'm still passionate about wooden toys.

I'm still drawn to natural materials, beautiful craftsmanship, open-ended play and things that are made to last.

But now I'm looking beyond the material a toy is made from and asking a different question:

What does this toy say to a child?

Can they see themselves in it?

Can it help them explore their heritage?

Can it introduce them to another culture?

Can it become part of a family tradition?

Can it help them learn a language, understand a celebration, explore a faith or tell a story that has been passed down through generations?

Sometimes a toy doesn't need to teach a lesson at all.

Sometimes it simply needs to make a child feel seen.

That might be a set of wooden people that looks like their family. A beautiful play cloth that brings a familiar landscape into their play. Letters from a language they hear at home. A resource that helps them explore a festival they celebrate with their family.

These things matter.

Because play isn't separate from childhood.

It is one of the ways children make sense of themselves and the world around them.

What we look for

I don't believe children need more toys.

I believe they need better things to play with.

Things that are beautiful enough to keep out. Interesting enough to return to. Open-ended enough to become something completely different in a child's imagination.

So I look for toys and resources that are:

  • Meaningful — things that connect children with people, places, stories, cultures and ideas.

  • Open-ended — playthings without one prescribed way to play, leaving room for imagination and creativity.

  • Well made — beautiful, durable pieces that can be loved for years rather than replaced when the next trend arrives.

  • Thoughtful — products designed with children's development, curiosity and independence in mind.

  • Inclusive — toys that recognise that childhood looks different in every family.

  • Responsible — where possible, we work with small makers and independent businesses who care about what they create and how they create it.

I also love toys that grow with a child.

A set of wooden blocks might begin as something to stack, become a castle, then a shop, a landscape, a maths resource or part of an elaborate imaginary world.

That kind of play is where the magic happens.

Small makers matter

One of the things I have always loved about Four Kids Toys is discovering small makers.

Independent designers and family-run businesses often put an enormous amount of thought into the things they create. You can see it in the materials, the details, the colours, the craftsmanship and the stories behind the products.

I want to give those makers a platform, particularly when they are creating something genuinely different.

Sometimes the products that speak to me most aren't the obvious bestsellers.

Sometimes they're the things that feel incredibly meaningful but take a little longer to find their audience.

I'm willing to make room for those things.

Because Four Kids Toys isn't about filling a warehouse with products.

It's about building a collection.

A collection of things I would be proud to put into your home, classroom or nursery.

A little less, but much more meaningful

One of the biggest lessons I've learned as a mum and home educator is that children don't necessarily need more.

When there are too many toys, it can become overwhelming. But give a child a few beautiful, interesting things and the possibilities can be enormous.

A wooden figure can become a person in a story.

A cloth can become a river, a den, a landscape or a superhero cape.

A collection of loose parts can become food, treasure, buildings, counters or an entire miniature world.

The best toys don't tell children what to imagine.

They give them the space to imagine.

Where we're going

Four Kids Toys has changed quite a bit since that first little business I started while home educating my children in Dubai.

But the heart of it hasn't changed.

I'm still looking for beautiful things.

I'm still talking to small makers.

I'm still testing toys with my own children.

I'm still learning.

And I'm still asking myself whether something deserves a place in a child's world.

But now Four Kids Toys is becoming something more.

A place for families and educators to find beautiful playthings that don't just entertain children, but help them explore who they are, where they come from and what matters to them.

Because every childhood is different.

And I think our children's toys should reflect that.

Welcome to Four Kids Toys.

Meaningful toys for every childhood.
