The letter box is one of the important and extended means with the child for a long
time through which the child learns to write, spell and read. The child can learn to read even before he masters writing and before the full development of the muscles of the hands is complete in line with the child's growth and development of his
abilities.
The letter box is suitable for children starting from the age of three and a half years or older according to the child's understanding. After learning letters on the sand-paper cards the child begins to recognize the shape of the letters in the box and distinguishes the vowels and the consonants. When your child is able to recognize the connected and separated letters, the child begins to form and read simple words consisting of two or three letters. Then the child continues to form simple sentences and express themselves.
Consonant letters are painted blue and vowels are painted red to easily distinguish. Each letter has it's place in the box on top of it's matching engraved letter compartment. There are five pieces of each letter: 2 separate and 3 connected.

The movable alphabet is traditionally used in a Montessori inspired environment after they have mastered the letter sounds and shapes using the Sand paper Letters.
