These Hajj inspired pilgrim peg dolls come as a couple, one male and one female in festive outfits. Made from either light or dark coloured natural wood and hand painted with matching outfits and features. Each peg doll is painted with a simple white outfit to represent Ihram. For men this is two pieces of simple fabric worn by men and modest clothing worn by women to signify a sacred state of purity, equality and unity before God.
The purpose of the clothing is to remove symbols of social status and wealth, ensuring all pilgrims are uniform.
These people are made and painted by hand so it is important to understand there may be some irregularities in the texture of the wood.
Care: Wipe clean before first use. Clean with a damp cloth and air dry away from heaters as can cause wood to crack.
Warning: Do not use disinfectants, detergents and hot water as it will remove the colour stain.
